Axe the Council Tax!

Matthew Taylor and Michelle Hume Lib Dems are calling on the Government to refund £100 of Council Tax to every household in the country.

We propose that the £100 Council Tax cut could be paid for by a small increase in Income Tax for those earning over £100,000.

In the longer run, the Lib Dems are calling on the Government to axe Council tax altogether because it does not take into account ability to pay.

A fair system based on the ability to pay would ensure nobody would pay more than they could afford.
